Bernardi Glassworks began in college in 2005 when at the advice of another art professor's recommendation, Eric took a course in glass. He remembers the first day of the class, seeing molten glass and watching his professor pull a strand of glass across the room. At that moment he caught the glass bug. Unlike most other art forms which are very individualistic, glass blowing is mostly done with a team of at least two. Eric loves the intimacy and immediacy of the medium.
From college Eric moved back to Chicago to start his practice. It wasn’t long before he got an opportunity to go work in Alaska. He worked there for a few years as a tour guide helping cruise boat passengers make their own glass creations. He then returned to Chicago and later went on to Texas, continuing to learn and hone his practice.
From the beginning, Eric has found appreciation for the art form of glass and the utilitarian side of it. He has found beauty in everyday objects, which have inspired him to make the finest crafted homewares. Not to say he doesn't like creating sculptural work; he just prefers and enjoys crafting pieces that become a beloved and delightful part of people’s daily lives.
While Eric was working for a glassblowing studio in Texas, he met Viviana who happened to work in the same studio as a gallery assistant. Eric got a job in Seattle and moved west. Later on Viviana moved out to join him and a couple of years later they formed Bernardi Glassworks.
Our mission is to design and create finely crafted art pieces that become a favorite part of people’s everyday lives.
We at Bernardi Glassworks would like to personally thank you for stopping by our little shop. We hope that you have enjoyed browsing through our glassware and art. Check back in with us from time to time as we are always changing and adding pieces to the shop. We encourage everyone to buy handmade art even if it isn’t from us. If you have any questions, send us a message and we will be glad to answer them. Thank you again for stopping by!
